Denty Westlake perform their brand of expressive, open and groovin' music as a duo, trio, quartet or quintet. Paul and Rob began their journey in Jacksonville, Florida 25 years ago where they co-founded musical groups marking the beginning of their collaboration. The early 2000s brought them both to Chicago where they found themselves deeply embedded in the thriving jazz scene. Summer 2023, Rob relocated to Raleigh allowing a renewal of their shared musical aspirations.

Rob Denty

Saxophones

Rob Denty, a native of Georgia, has been an active musician since picking up the saxophone at age 10. In 2001, Rob joined the Chicago Jazz Ensemble in residence at Columbia College directed by Jon Faddis. After 27 years in Chicago, he relocated to Raleigh-Durham, N.C. in 2023.

Paul Westlake

Bass

Paul, an undeniable traveler, has extensive jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, and island music experience. For years, Paul studied bass and composition at 'The New Earth Sonata', before receiving a bachelor of music from the University of North Florida in Jazz Studies. Paul has performed with Harold Blanchard, Lynne Arriale, Steve Davis, Jimmy Bruno, Marcus King, Ira Sullivan, Nat Adderley, Alex Morgan's Second Edition with Charles Marshall, and made guest ensemble performances with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
